Elecard and Kontron to showcase 4K high-density transcoding at BroadcastAsia 2019
Tomsk, Russia, June 04, 2019 – Elecard announces a solution for 4K real-time transcoding developed jointly with Kontron and will demonstrate it during Broadcast Asia 2019 (June 18-20, Singapore) – the number one broadcasting event in the APAC region, unifying the latest IT innovations, trends and influential experts.
A race for better performance and breakthrough economics within the IT industry is set to intensify with even more high-density video transcoding while still meeting the challenge to maintain a low power consumption – all within limited network space requirements.
Elecard will illustrate this by running its high-valued transcoder, CodecWorks, on the Kontron SYMKLOUD MS2900 Series converged hardware platform. The 2U high-density platform can be populated with up to nine (9) hot-swappable MSP8050 modular servers, each with two independent Xeon® E3-1578 v5 processors integrated with the Intel® Iris® Pro Graphics P580.
Elecard CodecWorks - a real-time HEVC/H.265, AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 video encoder supports SRT and NDI protocols aimed at building ready-to-use transcoding solutions with market-leading quality. It enables configuration-efficient encoding schemes of any complexity with high reliability due to redundancy modes and centralized control via GUI and web-interface.
The seamless hardware-software integration ensures a compelling solution to fit any video delivery project with any requirement for high-density, ultra-scalable HEVC transcoding, and goes beyond simple encoding with breakthrough low power, video streams-per-rack performance.
The joint Elecard and Kontron (2U—21-inch depth) solution enables real-time, multi-profile transcoding of nine (9) 4K 8-bit channels, maximizing the number of low-cost video streams. It ensures increased efficiency and productivity for your 4K workflows, coupled with industry-proven reliability, flexibility, and long-life support (5-7 years).
“It is hard to deny that high-density transcoding brings performance to a completely different level and offers multiple benefits that address the key issues of power consumption, cost and space saving, energy efficiency and scalability, which became the most challenging for the majority of IPTV, OTT, Cable and Cloud service providers. A live demonstration of how 4K high-density transcoding works will be available at BroadcastAsia 2019 at booth #6M4-01, where Elecard and Kontron specialists will be on hand to answer all your questions. We do hope that our cooperation with Kontron will progress in future bringing more breakthrough solution to the market,” said Nikolay Milovanov, Elecard CEO.
“The state of the broadcast and OTT streaming media industry has changed everything with respect to how to monetize video,” said Bertrand Foulon, Global Media Business Development Manager, Kontron. “While mobile video is enormous there has been a healthy rise in going all-in on bigger and better screens. We are excited to work with Elecard to help service providers and cable operators solve their 4K network challenges and speed up their time to revenue.”
