CUSTOMER'S TASK

Transcoding of AVC/H264 streams to MPEG-2 to ensure the DVB-T2 broadcasting for 2 hospitals without replacing IPTV equipment incompatible with AVC/H264 video.

SOLUTION

Implementation of a transcoding system based on the Elecard CodecWorks transcoder on the servers.

RESULT

  • Robust broadcasting to 900 bedside terminals and Set-Top-Boxes
  • Saving time and resources thanks to easy installation and friendly user interface
  • Budget saving for the end customer due to preservation of the old decoding equipment
  • Quick implementation

SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION

Deployment and setup of the Elecard CodecWorks transcoder on the servers in 2 hospitals. Each solution transcodes original 18 video streams to the MPEG-2 format for broadcasting to 400 BSTs/STBs for one hospital and 500 BSTs/STBs for another. Input streams are generated from DVB-T2 decoder over MPEG-TS H264 video/AAC AC3 audio. The solution implementation took 3 days per installation.

Feedback

“Elecard CodecWorks is a robust and flexible encoding solution with a variety of configurations. Dealing with DVB-T2 changes, we found it as the best solution to preserve old decoding equipment on our customer IPTV architecture and avoid end customers replacing hundreds of STB and BST. We like the ease of the first setup and the product use which saved us hours of work. We also appreciate the technical support for deep configurations as it was very helpful and professional.”
