Can anyone please tell me how to set my settings to work with Adobe Premier Pro CS3?  I can get it to save, but I'm seeing the file as "elecard mpeg player" and not a normal mpeg2 file.  Adobe Premier Pro can't read a file named "elecard mpeg player".

I have the very new Panasonic HDC-SD5 Camcoder.  All I want to do is to be able to edit the files.

The Panasonic HDC-SD5 produces files with the AVC/h264 video encoding and AC3 audio encoding in the Mpeg2 Transport Stream file format.

The possible confusion may appear when you have the Elecard Mpeg Player with the AVC plug-in installed on your PC. The mentioned combination of Elecard products can play successfully the  HDC-SD5 output files, so, Elecard Mpeg Player is registered as the default application for such files playback.

Even if you have a chance to remultiplex this files into  Mpeg2 Program Stream file format, the Adobe Premier Pro CS3 can still fail to load them unless it has a special AVC/h264 import plug-in.
So, please, check the capability of your installation of the Premier Pro to handle AVC/h264 input.

One of the tech. support guys said that I need one of the Elecard Converter Studio products....

((((AVC/H.264 to MPEG-2))))

I was told by the office in 1700 South Amphlett Blvd, Suite 200, San Mateo, CA 94402 that the Elecard MPEG Player did that.  But the lady on the phone must have been wrong.

I'm waiting to here back from the tech support guy on which one I need for my uses and if they can take out the price on the item they told me to buy at first.

All I want to do is film it, convert it, and edit it in Adobe Premiere.

Recently I had a chance to test the capabilities of the trial version of Adobe Premier Pro CS3 and found that it is not capable to load the mpeg2 files with any resolution, so, the Mpeg Player remuxing functionality will help only if the  suitable mpeg2 import plug-in is installed.

If it is not critical for you to have HD picture size at the output then you can use the Elecard Converter Studio 2.0 (AVC HD edition) to convert your files into uncompressed AVI or DV25 format with the 720x576 picture size. This format is accepted by Adobe Premier Pro CS3 without any plug-in installation.
You can freely evaluate the mentioned product before purchasing one. It can be downloaded from our web-site.

If you convert in AVI file using DV25 video encoding, then the following parameters need to be set in the "Picture Transformation" group of settings:

Deinterlacing="High Quality"
Resizing="Mitchell"
Framesize= 720 x 576

New update of Elecard Converter Studio AVC HD Edition has been released.

It is now fully compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro v.3.2.

Any of the HDV presets should be chosen to convert files from AVCHD to HDV format for further editing in Premiere.

Have you successfully imported into PPro and not had it crash?

Yes, I did. I used Elecard Converter Studio AVC HD Edition v.2.1 build 80429 (!!!) and Adobe Premiere Pro v.3.2. But before opening converted files in Premiere, I had to rename files extensions from *.ts to *.mpg (since Adobe Premiere doesn't understand *.ts extension).
