We have got "bad" TS where Video stream is not detected from Guest.

We found some strange thing that can't handle our demultiplexer. In fact in the semantic of PES (IS138181-Systems, page 33) should be presented protection bits  '0011'- 4 bslbf and  '0001' 4 bslbf. In the problem streams these bits were changed to  '0010' 4 bslbf for both strings. This means (from specification point of view) that current PES is corrupted. In other words whole PES that contains time stamps are marked like invalid.
But note that these PES contains sequence header and picture header as usual. Therefore the demultiplexer can't find any valid PES in order to provide output pin for video.

So, the MProbe also reports about errors in this stream.

It would be very interesting to know what software provides such kind of stream. We certainly can modify our demultiplexer for solving this problem but what for? Perhaps it is better to keep to MPEG standard then mimeograph some "custom" solutions.

Hi,

I'm also experiencing the same problems when trying to mux AC3 into a TS stream.  As was suggested, I was going to try installing the patch for the demulitiplexer, but that link no longer works.  Is the patch still available somewhere?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi,

I would like to know if there are known issues relating to conflicts with other software.  Currently, I'm still using version 1.1, and I've had problems muxing an AC3 audio and a mpeg video stream into a TS when the MainConcept Encoder/H264 Encoder are installed.  However, once I've uninstalled them, the problems appears to go away.  Is this a known issue, and is there a fix for this problem?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,

If it is not hard for you could you could you describe what exactly problem in AC3 muxing? You cannot load it into XMuxer or may be something else?

Hi,

Just to let everyone know, I think I've fixed one of my problems.  It turns out that when I installed the MainConcept Encoder software, one of their filters (the MPEG Splitter filter) was installed with the same priority value as my AC3 Parser filter - hence, it appeared that the MPEG Splitter filter was being used in situations when the AC3 Parse filter should have been used instead.  Once I made the priority value of the AC3 Parser filter higher, I was able to mux an AC3 audio stream into a TS stream properly (the problem I had before was that the Elecard software would just sit there and wouldn't do anything when I pressed "Start" to begin muxing).

However, I've been trying to play the muxed TS video stream into the VLC Player and Windows Media Player, but the playback is choppy and jerky (especially on the VLC Player), so I'm wondering if perhaps the video and audio stream did not get synchronized properly during the muxing process.  So I would like to ask another question - are their requirments on the video and audio stream that must be met for them to be synchronized properly during the muxing process?  Currently, I am taking a MPEG PS, then demuxing it (using Elecard) into its elementary streams.  Then I run the elementary streams through a H264 encoder and AC3 encoder respectively, before muxing it back again into a TS (using Elecard).  However, as I've just described, the final output video is jerky.

Thanks,
Gary

There are no any special requirements except for correct handling of VBV model in the h.264 stream. Could you describe what encoder tools and settings you have used?

I am using the MainConcept H.264 Encoder, version 2.00.00.07.  I've taken an elementary video stream (demuxed from Elecard), and fed it into the encoder for encoding it as a H.264 elementary stream.  The settings that I have used include specifying a CBR of 2100 Kbps, with Main profile and Level 3.1.

I've investigated a bit further, and it should not be related to synchronization problems between the video and audio streams.  I've even tried muxing just the h.264 video elementary stream by itself into a TS, but the end video is still jerky.

Same here. Output TS is always jerky regardless, if I mux video only or video plus AC3  Sad  ! I tried directshow filters too (and tested with various parameters), but always with the same result. BTW: Input TS plays flawlessly. Another thing ist, that muxing a two hours movie lasts for over 3.5 hours. Other products need only half an hour for this. I am sorry to say this, but at the moment I think, that I spent much money for nothing.

If you like, I could also send you the actual clip, so you can understand better on what I mean by jerky video.

XMuxer Pro is worthless garbage. Do yourself a favor and don't waste any more time or money on it.

Hi neuron,
first of all, it is shareware, and you may try it before buy. The second, you may request refund. The third, as official user of v.2.0, you will get free updates within major version, i.e. up to v.2.99. The fourth, we are working on the update and will provide it shortly.
Please, do not begin a campaign against us :-)

Hi neuron2 supporter,
Yes I know for sure who is neuron2. I'm in digital video/audio business since 1988, wrote my first MPEG2 decoder in 1994, today manage one of the largest codec development team in the world - approx 150 people Cheesy.
