Hi again.
Sorry for the delay in reply.
Yes, when I use XMuxer Pro, Indexing produces the index file, plus adds the .ts extension to the video file. As long as this extension is used with the media player, it appears to give the correct time. However, if I revert the extension back to .mpg to be recognised by other software, it no longer loads the index file, and hence incorrectly displays the time.
I have noticed that other players, using differing codecs, do sometimes register the correct time. Is it possible to direct the player to use a codec other then the built-in Elecard versions?
The version of the Player I am using at the moment is version 4.5.70713. I was asked to update the player, but in the past I have been given a subsidised rate due to circumstance, and do not know how to access such a discount in order to upgrade my current out of date version. I have attempted to use my current license, but this doesn't work with the higher versions from 5.0 onwards (as I realise is in the upgrade agreement). I have only ever managed to receive the one upgrade since purchasing the original license.
Thank you for your continued help and support.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Again.
Thank you very much for your reply.
I have looked through the setting's within MPEG Player, but cannot see any way of either indexing or accessing an indexed file. Is this a feature of the Player, or do I need another program (such as XMuxer Pro - which I also have) to index the file, or is it only a feature in the latest version of the Player (mine is a slightly earlier version)?
Although this method might work for the MPEG Player, it doesn't explain why other software (such as other players/analyzers) don't like the 'topped' files, even though closer inspection with a hex editor doesn't indicate any missing information which would make the difference it does. Is there a standard/convention for the start time of the PCR within the stream, which would mean re-timing the stream throughout to reflect the new time.
Hope you can provide some pointers. By the way - a 'Happy New Year' and holiday to yourself and all at Elecard. Your software is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Regards,
Tim.

PC Products / Elecard MPEG Player / 'Top' and 'Tailing' a video clip causes a problem with the time-line.

Hi.
I currently use the program DVBViewer to record DVB-T programs on a number of PC's. I have used both the program VideoReDo and the MPEG Player to 'Top' and 'Tail' these recorded programs so only the program itself remains (not the few minutes set to record before and after the brodcast time), but have noticed a problem in playing back these clips.
The cutting of the video does nothing to the data itself, both programs purely cut away the unwanted video at an appropriate I Frame point within the stream. When these clips are played back in MPEG Player or VLC, the incorrect length of the video clip is given, such that the time of the clip and hence the time-line is very much shorter than the actual clip length. This video is played normally, but when the time is reached, the player carries on playing the clip that remains, but actually indictes it has reached the end of the clip, so it is no longer possible to 'control' the playing of the clip.
If manual cutting of the clips is done with WinHex, 'Tailing' of the clip results in a clip which is treated correctly, and the new correct shorter clip time is recognized by the player. However, if I cut away from the start of the clip, the same thing happens as for cutting by the player. This is even the case after experimenting and placing the correct MPEG stop code at the end of the clip, and replacing the 'System Header' pack at the start as per ISO 13818-1, etc. As every I frame within the video carries the correct PCR time reference, why doesn't the playaer register the correct new time, but a very much shorter time.
Does anybody know what information I am cutting away from the start of the clip is causing the problem, even after experimenting with all kinds of replacing parts of the original stream start. I would be grateful to resolve the issue, since the MPEG Player appears to be the player of choice for DVBViewer, and I wish to store the clips in their 'original' form, without having to completely re-mux the stream with resulting loss of quality.
Thank you for any help given. Kind regards,
Tim.

PC Products / Elecard MPEG Player / Re: MPEG2 aspect ratio in PS

Hi.
I am also new to the forum, so sorry if I approach material already covered.
I too seem to have difficulties with MPEG Players Aspect Ratio. Whatever aspect ratio I set when using a variable sized window, the window size alters accordingly. However, in full screen mode, whatever changes I make are egnored, and the aspect ratio is set according to the original stream data, ie, like yourself, this means if a recorded broadcast was in 4:3, when in full screen, two dark bands appear on either side, even if the ratio had been changed to 16:9 (or 16:10) with a 'normal' sized window.
I too would like to know if this is a bug or a feature of the player.
Regards,
Tim.
